US security agencies target GA aircraft

In a move, which could have far reaching consequences for general aviation, the US Homeland Security Department has initiated a programme designed to bring bizjets in line with commercial aircraft. The plan envisages security screening for passengers on international flights only at this stage. The obvious concern for owner/operators is the additional expense incurred if the aircraft has to route via an approved portal or gateway airport. According to the AOPA the proposal "is just not practical".
