Air taxis a reality in the UAE

23 June 2008

According to the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), there are hundreds of helipads on buildings across the country but only a few have been approved.  However, Cars Taxi Company announced plans for a helicopter taxi service starting in 2009 with a fleet of 10 helicopters to meet the high demand for air taxis.
Industry experts believe that private jets are more likely to succeed in this new sector.  Falcon Aviation Services plans to begin jet air taxi services in the UAE and GCC by mid-2009.  It has financed 23 new aircraft worth $238 million, including eight corporate jets, with up to eight seats each.
