Bombardier Aerospace releases its market forecast

10 May 2008

According to Bombardier’s Commercial Aircraft Market Forecast, demand for 20 to 149 seat commercial aircraft is expected to reach approximately 12,900 new aircraft in the period between 2008 and 2027 indicating a significant increase in demand from last year’s forecast.  The forecasted demand is valued at approximately US$528b.
The trend towards larger aircraft and high fuel prices are the main reasons for operators to acquire new aircraft with low operating costs.
In the 20 to 59 seat aircraft segment, the forecast expects a demand for approximately 500 new aircraft.  In the 60 to 99 seat segment, the demand will be for approximately for 6,100 aircraft.  In the 100 to 149 seat segment, Bombardier forecasts a demand for approximately 6,300 aircraft.

Bombardier’s Business Aircraft Market Forecast predicts that in the period from 2008 to 2017 business aircraft manufacturers will deliver a total of 1,320 business jets excluding VLJs annualy.  The predicted 13,200 deliveries are valued at approximately US$300b.
