Piper Aircraft reveal Altaire

At last month's NBAA convention, Piper Aircraft introduced the evolved and renamed PiperJet Altaire. According to Piper CEO Geoffrey Berger, "We wanted to give our jet customers an even roomier light jet that incorporates a scaleable design, paving the way for a future family of competitive business jets". Piper claim the total variable opearting cost for the Altaire will be $727.36/hr compared to the Cessna Mustang at $867.16/hr and the Embraer Phenom100 at $972.88/hr. The aircraft is priced at $2.6 million (basic configuration) and will be produced at the Vero Beach facility with certification planned for 2013 and deliveries by 2014.
