Further delays in the 787 programme

12 April 2008

Boeing announced that the 787 programme has been delayed further.  The first flight of the aircraft is being rescheduled mainly due to delays in the deliveries from suppliers to Boeing’s final assembly line.  According the new schedule, 25 deliveries will take place in 2009 instead of the 109 originally planned.  The first flight is expected in 4Q08 and the first delivery in 3Q09.
The first 787-9, a larger variation of the aircraft will be delivered in the beginning of 2012 and the 787-3, a short-range model, will become the second derivative of the 787 family.  Boeing has orders for 892 787s from 55 customers.
