Indocopters Private Ltd, a Vectra group company that sells Eurocopters in India, is planning to expand the MRO service facilities for helicopters with the helicopter market set to double from the present 250 in the next three to five years.
“We are looking at a market share of 40-50 per cent in the additional potential,” Mr Rohit Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Indocopters, said.
Addressing a press conference in India, he said as the market evolves in India, market for pre-owned helicopters too is growing up.
The company, which lined up investments of Rs 150 crore, is looking at heavy maintenance services and avionics refurbishments. After Greater Noida, Mumbai and Bangalore, he said they were looking at Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad to set up the service facilities in the next few years.
The company sold four helicopters, two AS 350 B3, AS 350 B3 and EC135 at the air show for $15-18 million. “Keeping in view the growing number of helicopters, we are going to form special teams to depute to the location to carry out basic tests. If need be, they would be flown to the service centres,” Mr Kapur said. The four-year-old company is also planning to carry out complex engine services too in India. “This will mean huge savings for the customers as they could have complete range of services in India,” Mr Mike Meyer, Chief Operating Officer, said.
“We also assist operators and prospective clients on the helicopters best suited for their needs,” he said.
The company helps its clients in applying for licences and statutory permissions, Customs and registration formalities.
