Dead reckoning

3 April 2008

So you're overseas and you eventually sign that anticipated big deal. The Chief Financial Officer is so stunned he drops dead with a seizure - not good and there are a lot of things to think about, including flying the body home. Not something most of us want to think about, but apparently it's big business. In fact, so much so that some airlines are actively marketing loyalty programmes to funeral directors. It's a lucrative process for the airlines, steady income and no worries about air rage or serving wine at the wrong temperature. Delta Airlines in the US ship 50,000 coffins each year. Funeral directors who ship 1,000 coffins per annum will generate sufficient airmiles for a round trip from Europe to Hawaii!
