India to be fastest growing country for air travel

8 March 2010

India will require 1032 aircraft over the next 20 years. According to the Airbus global forecast the Indian aircraft requirement will be the world's fifth biggest, valued at $138 billion. By 2028, the Indian passenger fleet will quadruple to 1,163 aircraft and the freighter fleet to 210 aircraft.

The figures back up Kapil Kaul's estimates when speaking at IBAE 2010, when he forecast 600 million passengers travelling annually through Indian airports by 2027.
