SkyEurope collapses

SkyEurope, the Slovakian discount airline, has joined the lengthening list of airlines that have gone into administration since the start of 2008. The company, which was founded in 2002, grew quickly and was listed on the Viennese stock exchange, but growth never translated into profits and despite various restructuring attempts, the toxic combination of fuel price rises and depressed demand proved too much.
