Economic growth and Business aviation

India is set to become a top three global economy by the end of the decade and arguably the most significant growth market for business jets over the coming few years. Its knowledge based industries are well established and it's solid manufacturing base is consolidating and expanding at a pace no mature market can match. India is expanding beyond its shores and acquiring overseas businesses, with automobile manufacturers such as Tata and Mahindra and Mahindra purchasing existing aerospace, component and aviation based industries.

We heard at IBAE 2010 that India's civil airports will handle over 600 million passengers per annum by 2027 and the current infrastucture is already creaking under the pressure. So far little attention has been paid to business and general aviation with the view, from the executive branch, being that private aviation has little relevance to India's needs. This view, however, is slowly changing and public officials are now beginning to recognise that private aviation has a significant role to play in developing India's manufacturing, IT, service, supply and tourist industries. It's going to take time to get business aviation established, but Corporate India and the entrepreneurs who drive growth are in a hurry and waiting around in the famously congested hub airports of India is no longer acceptable. Flying point to point in a private aircraft to destinations off the scheduled carrier routes will become far more commonplace over the coming years.

Topics addressed

How can operators and private buyers ensure import taxes are pitched at a sensible level? What can we expect from the leisure market? Will Government follow through on plans to upgrade infrastructure and facilities? Will light jets or heavy metal be the preferred choice for customers? Are corporates buying the right aircraft for the job? Educating the customer - do customers (and Government) fully appreciate the cost benefits of private aviation? What about the future and applications for rotorcraft? Will India become a centre of excellence for all things Bizav? What about support, service and IT? Will component, manufacturing, aircraft refurbishment and MRO be fully developed to support Bizav? Where will flight crew be trained and type rated and where will the demand be greatest? How will medi-vac evolve in India and what provision has been made for aviation health? Where do you go to fund, insure and tax your aircraft and at the end of it all, which legal company will provide peace of mind? Will bureaucracy be relaxed? Will dedicated FBOs gain traction? What of the operators- will they grow in line with demand and what business models will they employ? What kind of broking services will be available? How will the resale market and residuals look over the coming years? With such a large coastline and a large inland waterway network is there a role for floatplanes? Who will be the winners and the losers?

It will be the role of Indian Business Aviation Expo (IBAE) 2011 to continue the debate started at the first event in Delhi during February 2010, and to set the agenda for this huge market.

The 2011 event has been expanded to include a significantly larger exhibition and delegates will enjoy a choice of sessions geared to their particular interests. There will be a variety of networking sessions and a gala dinner at the end of the first full day and dedicated meetings with buyers and sellers.

Who should attend: Aircraft manufacturers, regional and GA airports, government and regulatory authorities, industry associations, private air charter operators, FBOs, MROs, aircraft brokers, equipment specialists, training schools, aviation emergency and security services, IT specialists and solutions providers, helicopter service and support companies, executive flight infrastructure and support facilitators, VIP handling services and support functions, after sales specialists, legal, insurance and funding agencies, catering suppliers, aircraft support, supply and solutions companies, pilots and consultants.

MIU Events organise conferences and exhibitions for the business, private and general aviation industry. These events are targeted at senior management and those parties having a direct influence over the future direction, management, planning and financing of the aviation sector and the supporting infrastructure requirements.
