In 2011 we ran the Financial Solutions for Business Aviation event in Shannon, Ireland. The overwhelming response following this first event was that the programme and format should be broadened to cover all aspects of Business Aviation in Ireland. Consequently, the 2012 event will provide a comprehensive overview of all aspects of Business Aviation relevant to the Irish market and how developments in Ireland impact elsewhere in the world.

With growth in the business aviation sector in Europe and the US still marginal how does Ireland compete on the world stage? In this opening Keynote presentation the speaker provides some thoughts on how the landscape is changing for Business Aviation in traditional centres and how specialist services provide a route forward!

11:00 - Networking Coffee Break

Helicopters make up a significant proportion of the Business aviation fleet and often secure charter work on a retainer basis. What is the approach of the lenders to rotary operations, how big is the market and the role of commercial aircraft leasing?
11:50 - MROs for Business Aviation: What does the future hold?
With a shift from West to East in aircraft sales there’s a need for repair and overhaul facilities to cast their net further afield.
12:10 - FBO ground operations
The FBO is the
first glimpse a high net worth customer or industry leader will have of a destination. How does the FBO provide the “Wow” factor?

664 business jets were delivered in 2011. This compares with 762 in 2010, 878 in 2009, 1290 in 2008 and 1114 in 2007. At what point can we expect the trend to reverse and which aircraft will be the hot sellers and in what markets?

14.40 - Catering for Business Aviation
It was Napoleon who supposedly said, “An army marches on its stomach”. When it comes to business aviation the owner or High Net Worth customer goes to their meeting on high class nosh. How has this area of service developed over recent years?

SESSION III – ISSUES SURROUNDING AIR CHARTER O
PERATIONS
09.10 - Plotting a course
An array of confusing regulations, lack of harmonisation across Europe, fuel prices, technical issues, demanding owners and assorted VAT rules ensure operating an air charter business is a challenging process. The speaker suggests some protocols that could simplify life!
09.40 - Competition amongst operators
In the current economic climate it's not always easy to achieve a margin! Are there too many operators chasing too few customers and will this result in margins being squeezed to an unacceptable level. Will this result in consolidation?
10.10 - Impact of emerging markets
China and India, despite infrastructure and bureaucratic impediments, are set to take an increasing share of new aircraft sales as the market shifts from the US to the East. How big is the market in Asia likely to get and as Dubai builds the world's largest airport at Jebel Ali to tap into this growth are European centres missing a trick?
10.40 - Airport Charges
There was a time when an operator/owner could land at a GA/Business Airport and simply pay a landing fee and fuel (if required). That is no longer the case with airports charging from an exhaustive list of additional options. To what extent do "extras" negatively impact on the private aviation experience?
11.00 - Networking Coffee Break
11.30 - Are there too many OEMs?
Manufacturers in the US and Europe are struggling to find customers and new (cheaper) manufacturers are emerging in China and India. Does this place the owner/operator in a strong negotiating position?
11.50 - Analysis of Bizjet and Helicopter Values
How are business aircraft fleet values assessed? How is an ageing fleet valued and how does management and maintenance impact on the valuation process?
12.10 - Fuel Price Fluctuation
Fuel prices are passed on to the customer and ultimately impact on the price of a charter.

Shannon Airport offers the option for Business (and commercial) aircraft to clear US Customs in Ireland. This provides the operator with the flexibility to then enter the US without landing at one of the hub customs approved airports in the US.

To what extent can a regional airport attract specialised industries and drive regional prosperity?
15.45 - Networking Coffee
