BOEING OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THE INDIAN MARKET
According to Boeing, a turnaround in India’s airline sector is expected in the fourth quarter of 2009. The increase of fares by domestic airlines was a positive step.  There has been a 58% increase in the orders for 200-seat aircraft.  The next biggest demand is for 300-seat aircraft which indicates a 15% increase in demand.  Boeing will deliver 18 aircraft to Indian airlines this year, including seven B777s to Air India.  The US manufacturer has so far sold 164 aircraft worth US$25 billion to airlines in India.

EASA APPROVES 777F
The newest member of the B777 family, the 777 Freighter, has been approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) which validated the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) type certification.  The first B777F will be delivered to Air France, its first customer, later this quarter.

AIR FRANCE-KLM RESULTS
Air France-KLM have announced financial results for third quarter ended December 31, 2008.  There is a net loss of €294m on €5.97b vs. net profit of €190m on €5.98b revenues a year ago.

AIRBUS FOR TURKISH AIRLINES
Turkish Airlines assumed Kingfisher's delivery slots for four A321s with V2500s.  It now operates 19 aircraft.

PROGRESS FOR SUKHOI
According to Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, two prototype aircraft have completed more than 90 flights and 300 hours under its SSJ100 flight test program.

STRONG EMBRAER ORDERS
Embraer has 850 firm orders in 44 countries for the Phenom 100 and 300 light jets. That is an increase from 800 confirmed orders only two months ago.

UAE AND SAUDI ARABIA TO CONTINUE BUSINESS AVIATION GROWTH
Saudi Arabia and the UAE, the two largest markets in the Middle East for business and VIP jets, are expected to continue to grow despite the global financial crisis.  The two countries operate more than 65% of business jets and VIP aircraft in the Middle East.
